Blackburne's Ram

A ram is a pawn driven head-on into the enemy formation to crack it open. Blackburne's games made the device famous, and the examples follow rams on both wings — from Blackburne's own central thrust to the demolition work in Alekhine–Nimzowitsch, San Remo 1930. The ram works when the pieces stand ready to rush through the gap.
